Need the sort code for CRDB Bank Tanzania? In Tanzania, sort codes are six-digit bank-and-branch codes used for domestic clearing and transfers between banks. The Bank of Tanzania publishes the official list, and every CRDB branch code starts with 003, CRDB’s bank code. What a Sort Code Means in Tanzania

A sort code identifies the bank and branch that holds an account. It is used in domestic payment systems, on some cheque and transfer forms and by payroll and accounting software. The Bank of Tanzania publishes the codes in its official bank sort codes list (an Excel file on the BoT website), which in the version checked for this article was last revised in February 2024.

The six digits are made of a three-digit bank code followed by a three-digit branch number. For CRDB, the bank code is 003.

The list contains more than 170 CRDB entries. Some branches also have older six-digit codes, so if a form rejects a code, check with your branch which version it needs.

How to Find Your Own Branch Code

Look at your bank statement, cheque book or account opening letter.
Check the BoT sort code list for your branch name under CRDB.

Branch names in the list can be abbreviated, and new branches are added over time, so confirm with CRDB if you cannot find yours.

Sort Code or SWIFT Code?

Use the sort code for payments within Tanzania. For money coming from abroad, the sender needs CRDB’s SWIFT code instead – explained in our CRDB SWIFT code guide. International senders do not normally need a Tanzanian sort code.
