Sea cliff hotel and TOA hotel were brilliant resorts. Great rooms Great variety of food especially at Sea Cliff. Beautiful scenery Well spaced out. TOA Hotel: Food could be better. Insufficient variety for vegetarians. Manager at TOA hotel (Ally) was an extremely hands on Manager. Could see he lead by example. He tried his best to accomodate guests to their needs.

This hotel is pure paradise.... the staff are awesome, beach beautiful with a great private hotel beach, very high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping, constant maintenance being done, wonderful buffets and other restaurants. Good range of Swahili foods at breakfast, lunch and evening meals. All fresh ingredients and great range of meals. Mention has to be made of Richard, who faithfully put our towels out every day. Edison and Oscar, great guys very professional and friendly. In the dining room, Elizabeth, Hamida, Fatma, Hawa, Helena, Ally, and Mary on the spiced tea...... all these people really made up a big part of our holiday joy. Their smiles we have brought home with us, in lovely memories Also a mention for MacDonald and Abdallah...... what fun we had chatting with them. A big thanks to our room girl Mwami.... she did a constant great job. We absolutely fell in love with Zanzibar, this hotel and so much these wonderful staff members. The reception also was excellent and helpful. Just what was not to love.

FABULOUS

We have recently stayed at this beautiful hotel and we absolutely loved it. There really is so much to say so I'll try to keep it contained. Journey from the airport is "interesting" at night and about a one and half hour journey, with fairly bumpy roads and lots of people walking and cycling with no lights. However when you arrive at the gates of the hotel it is stunning. Well worth the journey. Great check in and hotel rooms excellent, the photos do not do the hotel justice. The bikes are perfect, I never thought we would use them but even my husband at 80 road around the hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent, the team work so hard to maintain an intersting buffet each evening, often with a theme, and with some beach nights, when they work tirelessly to move the restaurant on to the beach. If there is any negative point it would be only one restaurant. If you are staying longer than a week I think a second restaurant would make a difference. Evening entertainment was very good each evening. A big thank you to Aziza, Martha and Meshack in the restaurant for looking after us so well and Geofrey at the beach bar for the fab cocktails. Just a shame that so few people used the beach bar, this maybe due to the high cost of cocktails and drinks if you are not on all inclusive. The other highlight was sun downers on the jetty. A wonderful way to finish a day on the beach. I would definelty recommend all inclusive if you enjoy lunch and a couple of drinks as both are expensive. One of the highlights of our stay was a fantastic trip to a local village. Abuyu at the Boat House was so helpful in arranging this trip. The guided tour is a courtesy trip by the hotel but you do have to pay for the taxi there and back. We spent a very educational morning walking through the village, seeing how the families live and ending on a trip to the school and speaking to the children and seeing their school work which was amazing. PLEASE take the time to visit, and if you do, take some sweets for the children and we took some small $ notes to give to the locals when they were kind enough to show us their lives and take their photos. As we walked through the village the nursery children were leaving school, on their own walking home, fortunately we had enough sweets for them all as they crowded round us, eager for a sweet treat. Excursions from the hotel were extremely expensive, we hired a taxi independently to go to Stone Town and it was a third of the hotel charge. We were thinking of doing the sunset Dow cruise but again very expensive, as I think other guests thought as the Dow never left its moorings the whole week. This hotel beach does have a very very low tide and I think some boat trips are affected by this, it is also difficult to swim in the sea if you catch the tides wrong on your stay and you do need beach shoes. Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome, always a friendly smile and hello as you passed on your bikes, a wonderful team. If you are thinking of staying here, do not hesitate, we had the most amazing holiday and would love one day to return.

Not worth for the price – Over rated

Over priced hotel . Room size smaller than the Toilet size : Room No .1302 I stayed . Room very very basic and not comfortable as have no sitting area and the mosquito net wrapped around bed makes it difficult to view our etc . What wonders is the oversize toilet area with cramped seat & shower space . What is the purpose of such a size with useless vacant space in toilet . Mirror shelf also not practical for ease & purpose . Any way resort public areas are good however has to be at the price charged US 400 per night I paid for bed & breakfast . Staff indeed is tooo too good . Resort is sprawling and one has to travel up to 1 km or more for Lunch at Gabhi Restaurant .

beautiful hotel but only for Italians

hotel located by a beautiful beach. simple African rooms but with comfortable beds and air conditioning. cleaned daily. the only downside is that the hotel manager does everything for Italians. Food, animations. The locals on the beach are friendlier to other nationalities the management of this hotel. For us a drink in plastic ($10 mojito) for an Italian in a glass. etc. even though we spent a beautiful holiday, I felt national discrimination in the hotel. I will return to Zanzibar, but not to this hotel.

I came here for my 40th birthday trip after a long time of no international travel, so wasn't sure what to expect. Regarding cleanliness, this hotel went above and beyond to ensure all areas were cleaned...felt totally safe! As a diamond member I was upgraded to a nice room right on the beach. Huge walk-in shower, comfy bed and linens, and the A/C worked perfectly. The food was exceptional! From breakfast, it was nice to see the staff enforcing guests to use gloves when using the buffet....great selection of foods and a changing menu every day. Had dinner at Fisherman's Grill the first night...ended up going back a few more nights it was so good. The service was top-notch and the employees were very friendly. The area of Nungwi was really cool and everything was walking distance. It was nice to stroll out of my room to the beach and go for a walk....there are a lot of hustlers on the beach, but they are contained there. The resort had security around the clock to make sure non-guests were not coming up to sell to the people on the lounge chairs. But if you want a fresh coconut, souvenir, massage, etc....simply walk down and anything is yours. My wife took advantage of a massage package....great value. She never wanted to leave! And I spent my time at the beach bar and pool bar....the entire bartender crew were fantastic!!!
