Abdullah Bin Khalifa of Zanzibar – Honours, Children, Ancestry and More

Background

After his father ’s death, Khalifa bin Harub, on 9 October 1960 at the age of eighty-one, Abdullah bin Khalifa (born 12 February 1910 and died on 1 July 1963) became the 10th Sultan of Zanzibar. He was less liked than his father and had a difficult reign as Sultan, since both of his legs had been severed at the time of his death.

President of the USA John F. Kennedy had a gold plaque made for Abdullah bin Khalifa by Galt & Bro, a Washington, D.C.-based jeweler, but it was never collected from the jeweler after the President’s murder in 1963.

From October 9, 1960, until July 1, 1963, Abdullah bin Khalifa was the ruler of Zanzibar. His son Jamshid succeeded him as Sultan after his death.
