What is Biriyani and How to Make Chicken Biriyani Food?

I’m afraid you’ll have to put this one to the test and decide for yourself. However, if you want my opinion, I believe Swahili Biriyani is definitely the finest Biriyani and is a great representative of the perfect art of Biriyani cooking. Why? Because the soup is just ready to be absorbed by the rice. I am not a big fan of dry Biriyani, but that’s because Mombasa corrupted me, hahaha.

Chicken Biriyani Recipe Ingredients

  •  one chicken, [cleaned and chopped into eight pieces)
  •  five tomatoes (chopped)
  •  six sliced onions (Deep fried till it is gold-like and crispy)
  •  one chilli pepper (Chopped)
  •  Tomato paste, three tablespoons
  •  1–2 tablespoons cumin (ground)
  •  one tablespoon of sugar
  •  one teaspoon of cinnamon (ground)
  •  1/4 teaspoon cloves (ground)
  • One teaspoon of cardamom (ground)
  •  one teaspoon of black pepper
  •  one teaspoon of ginger (crushed
  •  one teaspoon of garlic (crushed)
  •  1/2 cup of water
  •  Three potatoes (peeled; cut in half, and deep-fried
  •  three tablespoons of coriander (roughly chopped)
  •  one chilli pepper (chopped)
  •  Mala (1/2 cup) (or natural yoghurt)
  •  Cooking ghee

Instructions – Biriyani Making

  1. The first thing on how to make Biriyani, put one tablespoon of ghee, accompanied by the tomato sauce, in a thick-bottomed saucepan over moderate heat for one minute.
  2. One tablespoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, one teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and four to five cloves.
  3. Cook for two minutes with the seasonings before adding the sliced tomatoes and covering the pan.
  4. Add the ginger, garlic, chicken, fresh chilli, and salt after 13 minutes.
  5. Cook, covered, until the chicken is tender (about fifteen minutes).
  6. Cover and decrease the heat to mala [1\2] or natural yoghurt.
  7. If you have not already, deep-fried the chopped onions, as well as the potatoes, until a layer forms.
  8. To the Biriyani pot, add the deep-fried potatoes and onions. Cook the potatoes until they are tender.
  9. Serve and pour your Biriyani bowl over rice.
